How To Make Cannabis Chocolate

Cooking With Cannabis - Cannabis Chocolate

Chocolate Cannabis, what could be nicer… Combining the antioxidant qualities of organic dark chocolate, with Cannabis buds, produces a high quality medicinal product that tastes great and provides an effective form of pain and stress relief.

Making Cannabis chocolate is easier than you may think, and requires very little skill or preparation. In Fact, all you need is a 100 gram bar of dark chocolate, preferably with 70% cocoa solids and 10 grams of quality bud. The better quality the buds, the better quality the final Cannabis chocolate will be.

Gauging the effect of the final product is always difficult, but for an average person of size and weight, a 5 gram dosage of this Cannabis chocolate recipe is a moderate dosage.  Your finish product will weigh approximately 100 grams, so eating a 10 gram serving will be the equivalent to eating a gram of bud.

Of course, the main difference is that eating a gram of fresh or dried Cannabis will not get you high, where as, eating a 10 gram serving of Cannabis chocolate will. Although THC does not become active until it is dry, it also needs a certain amount of heat to turn the THCA into THC. When dry Marijuana is burnt in a Joint or Spliff, the heat turns the THCA into usable THC.

In order for us to ensure that the THCA is turned into THC for our chocolate, it needs to be baked at 200 degrees first. This is essential, and a step that  many people do not undertake, then wonder why they don’t feel stoned from their baking.

Method For Making Cannabis Chocolate

  • Heat your oven to 200 degrees, around gas mark 5
  • Place a mixing bowl over a large saucepan of water. Boil the water, which will heat the bowl.
  • Place 10 grams of dried Cannabis onto a clean tray and place in the oven for 15 minutes.
  • Break up 100 grams of dark chocolate (Must be dark chocolate with 70% cocoa) and place into the warmed bowl.
  • Keep the bowl over the boiling saucepan and stir the chocolate until melted. Do not rush, melt it slowly.
  • Once the Cannabis has baked for 15 minutes, remove from the oven and grind to a fine powder.
  • Add the ground Cannabis to the completely melted chocolate, remove from the heat and stir.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of coconut, flaked almonds or a similar accompaniment.
  • Add a teaspoon of flavoring such as Almond extract or mint to disguise any hemp taste and stir.
  • Allow to cool slightly and pour into molds or onto grease-proof paper and place in the fridge until solid.

This recipe is very quick, simple and effective. It will produce approximately 100 grams of Cannabis chocolate, with each 10 gram portion containing a 1 gram dosage. The proportions can be altered to make the Cannabis chocolate stronger or weaker according to the required dosage, although 1 gram dose is sufficient for most needs.

Experiment with this recipe and add different flavorings until you find a combination that works for you. Without a flavoring such as Almond extract or mint, the Cannabis chocolate can taste a little of hemp, so it’s worth the added drop to give the chocolate a better flavor.
